Fedora Hats & Feathers - Grace and Dotty。What a stunner! This is a wonderful sample of the over the top elegant hats of the 1950\'s. This round hat is made of a turquoise v dolor fabric which is most creatively ruched and gathered around the edges on top. Between the ruchings, there are tiny oblong beads in an antique gold shade.Over the top of the hat there are some coordinating turquoise colored feather sprays to complete the look. The hat has small projections at each side. These \"stays\" are to hold the hat in place, and are flexible.
Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. Post war 1940’s and 1950’s saw many women choosing not to wear hats on a regular basis. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. Generally speaking hats remained small and close to the head. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble. Alternatively, ‘pancake’, \'mushroom\' or ‘cart wheel’ hats sat flat atop the head reviving turn of the century styles.
Label: SUNNYCREST original
This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition. Please note that at the tip of one of the \"stays\", the fabric has worn off a tiny bit, but this won\'t affect wear. See photo # 11. This hat has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
