The crown is round and flat at the top, and is surrounded by an upturned brim which is edged in grosgrain. The outstanding feature of this beautiful hat is the off-center intricate and creative grosgrain trim which adorns the front. The workmanship is superb! There is a full veil, plus an elastic veil attached to the hat to keep it in place. Stunning! The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials.
