Late 30s/ Early 1940。What an elegant wide brim hat from the fabulous 1940s\'! The round crown is surrounded by a wide brim which is turned down at the front. A black velour band surrounds the crown, ending in a bow at the back. There is black veiling covering the top of the brim and extending just a couple of inches beyond the edge of the brim. Fabulous turquoise ostrich feathers are attached by the velour bow at the back, cascading towards the front. There is an elastic band attached he\'d to the inside of the hat too help keep it in place. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. Size label: 22. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. Please keep in mind that you are buying a vintage hat, not new nor perfect! This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
